JOB DESCRIPTION

To provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers by closely interacting with the Project Managers, Sales Staff, subcontractors and material suppliers to ensure timely completion of a detailed cost estimate.

  • Responsible for creating cost estimates consisting of materials, subcontractors, purchased equipment, labor and other construction-related activities to determine price of project.
  • Qualifies the level of estimate required with the PM, salesperson according to company guidelines.
  • Creates detailed cost estimate based on scope.
  • Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects.
  • Works with Project Manager to develop scope of work for subcontractors.
  • Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/subcontractors through quotations for materials/services.
  • Documents work by maintaining files for each job.
  • Creates detailed cost estimates including HVAC and DDC system sketches, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, and vendor/subcontractor quotes.
  • Generates and distributes proposals as directed by GM.
  • Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with company estimating tools.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
  • Sizes and selects equipment based upon the desired solution.
  • Conducts site visits with or without the PM/GM to determine field conditions.
  • Participates in team-oriented development of larger DDC/HVAC projects.
  • Will work on multiple projects concurrently, meeting required deadlines for all.
  • Keep timely and current Weekly updates of Estimate Log (Follow up Book) and weekly reporting to sales team.
  • Willing to estimate or develop projects of all sizes.
  • Establishes and maintains weekly work schedule acceptable to Supervisor.
  • Consistently (monthly), meets or exceeds the estimate ratios set by the GM

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year College or Technical School with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and three years HVAC and BAS experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have knowledge of various HVAC products, systems, electronics, DDC Controls design and installation, and pneumatic controls.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and Microsoft Office products
  • Maintain a closing ratio of at least 30%, monthly.
  • Maintain a monthly, proposal pipeline to support the annual Sales Goal set by the General Manager
  • Meet or exceed the project Gross Margin requirement for estimates.
  • Meet or exceed the quarterly sales quota.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write report, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Strong organizational skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experience HVAC Controls/Building Automation specialist to join a dynamic and growing company that provides full-range building operations and maintenance services including installation and repairs, preventative maintenance, and energy management solutions. The selected candidate will sell HVAC Controls/Building Automation System retrofits as well as new construction projects in all markets. The selected individual will develop new business as well as enjoy working with existing customers. 

Only candidates who have current or recent experience successfully selling Building Automation Systems will be considered. This is a rapidly expanding company offering a terrific opportunity for the right individual to grow with them. Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility will be to successfully sell HVAC/Building Automation systems to end users, contractors, general contractors and mechanical engineers. This position requires skills of an aggressive, hard-working, sales professional who is conceptual, creative, and enjoys a fast paced sales environment. In addition to the items listed below, experience in cold calling, developing new business, and implementing sales strategies is a must.

  • This individual will allow CB Controls, Inc. to increase its visibility to become the Building Automation Specifier of choice in the construction & service market place in Southern California.
  • This individual will assist in the development of specifications on targeted projects to enhance the company’s probability of success through price and preference.
  • This role requires the individual to develop and conduct seminars and lunch & learns to end-users, contractors and consulting firms to promote company products and solution sets.
  • Maintains technical competence of company’s products, applications and services and professionally represents Siemens in industry associations, professional organization and affiliations.
  • Individual will be required to follow up on executed projects to ensure satisfactory approval of design documents and create outstanding customer value.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of three or more years experience in Outside Sales related to the HVAC, automated controls, or construction management industry. Computer experience required.
  • Must have a successful record of achieving or exceeding sales quotas
  • Must be comfortable cold-calling and have the ability to identify and seek out business within new and existing clients
  • Must possess an outgoing personality, be able to present themselves and CB Controls, Inc. in a professional and positive way, be technically proficient, and work well in a team environment.
  • Individual must possess a valid Driver’s license in good standing

  • PE License optional. LEED GA/AP optional.

DDC Programmer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are actively searching for a DDC Tech/Programmer to join our team. This individual will utilize programming tools, standards and procedures, and their knowledge of building systems and applications to develop program instructions for DDC controllers and front ends used on projects. Will work alongside Project Managers, Hardware Engineers, and Field Engineers assigned to a project to fulfill the project requirements. Programming will include setup of user interface and/or browser based systems using Tridium/Niagara. The ideal candidate will be able to incorporate a sequence of operation into a device and/or workstation application that meets all project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision, completes assigned projects, programming, and commissioning and project turnover per contract obligations.
  • Assists personnel with solutions to systems problems, either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems.
  • Requires an understanding of core and third party DDC Control software and systems.
  • Assists in performing required commissioning documentation.
  • Provide accurate information for as-built documentation.
  • Adheres to safety standards and local and national codes, with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Continuous proactive customer interactions including an in-depth understanding of customer(s) needs wants and systems currently in place.
  • Assists in monitoring project execution per plan.
  • Reports problems or changes to supervisor or management.
  • Completes paperwork and on site documentation as required.
  • Performs self-study (reading, research, and practice) to obtain technical proficiency on required products and application.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a working knowledge of Tridium AX platform. AX certification highly desired.
  • Electronics training/certification from a technical school or military electronics training desired.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts.
  • Above average computer skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
